Cake Batter

​2 cups All Purpose Flour with

1 teaspoon Baking Powder or

2 cups Self Raising Flour

1/ cup Milk

1/3 cup Vegetable Oil

1/2 cup Butter (room temperature)

2 Eggs

1/3 cup Sugar


2 Gala Apples

1 cup crushed Walnuts

1/3 cup Brown Sugar

2 tablespoons Butter

1 teaspoon Cinnamon Powder

Directions

Apple Upside Down Cake

  • Preheat oven to 350F or 180C
  • ​Peel & slice the apples
  • Melt the 2 tablespoons butter in a frypan
  • ​Add the brown sugar & stir
  • ​Add the sliced apples
  • Add the cinnamon
  • ​Mix all together & set aside to cool
  • Add the sugar & butter to a mixer & cream together 
  • ​Add the eggs one at a time
  • Add the vegetable oil
  • Add the baking powder to the flour and add some flour to the mixture
  • Add some of the milk​
  • ​Add the rest of the flour & milk and mix together 
  • Spray some non stick spray in a round cake tin with a round parchment paper
  • ​Place the coated apple slices all around
  • ​Pour the syrup on top of the apple slices
  • Add the crushed walnuts on top
  • Add the cake batter on top & spread evenly
  • ​Place in the oven for 40 minutes
  • ​Knife around the edges 
  • ​Place a cooling rack on top & flip

Serve with a scoop of ice cream!
