Baklawa

Ingredients

3 cups Crushed Walnuts

1 cup Butter (melted)
1/3 cup White Sugar

1 tablespoon Orange Blossom Water

1 teaspoon Ground Cardamon

Filo/Phyllo Pastry


  • Mix the sugar, cardamon & orange blossom water to the crushed walnuts
  • ​Preheat the oven to 350F or 180C
  • Brush some of the melted butter to a baking pan
  • Cut the filo pastry in half
  • ​Cover the filo with a damp cloth
  • Take 1 piece of filo & brush with the melted butter
  • Place a tablespoon of the walnut mixture in a line on the top edge of the filo pastry 
  • ​Place a dowel on the top edge of the filo
  • ​Roll & crimp the edges all the way to the end
  • Place the dowel upright & push down on the filo
  • ​Place on the baking dish
  • When all the rolls are made, brush all the rolls with the melted butter
  • ​Place in the oven for 30 minutes
  • Pour the cold sugar syrup all over the hot baklava
  • Cut into smaller rolls and sprinkle with some crushed pistachios
