Directions

  • Place the stewing beef in a saucepan & add cold water
  • Cook on low heat until tender
  • Rinse the green lentils & strain
  • Place the lentils in a saucepan & add 3 cups of cold water
  • Cook on low-med heat for 15 minutes
  • Strain the lentils
  • Rinse & strain the chickpeas
  • Soak the rice for 1/2 an hour
  • Strain & rice the rice
  • On high heat add the oil to a large pot
  • Add the onions & fry for a minute
  • ​Add the vermicelli pasta & fry for a minute
  • ​Add the rice & fry for a minute
  • ​Add the cooked lentils & mix together
  • ​Add the chickpeas & mix together 
  • Add the cooked beef & mix together
  • Add 4-5 cups boiling water to the pot
  • ​Add the salt & mix all together 
  • Cook covered on low heat for 30 minutes
  • Stir once mid way
  • ​Stir again before turning off the heat


Green Lentil, Chickpea & Beef Rice

2 cups Basmati Long Grain White Rice
1 cup Green Lentils
1/2 kilo Stewing Beef
1 Onion (diced)
540mls can Chickpeas
1/2 cup Vermicelli Pasta
1 tablespoon Salt
4 tablespoons Light Olive Oil
Boiling Water
